About WSIAT Decisions
The Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT) provides written reasons for all decisions. Each decision is given key words that describe the main issues.
The following resources can be of assistance to you when searching for decisions:
- Ask the library staff at the Ontario Workplace Tribunals Library
- Help pages on the “Decision Search” page
- W.S.I.A.T. Reporter (volumes 1-89)
It is important to understand the difference between how to cite and how to search for a decision. A decision number is composed of three elements: Root number, the Year and if appropriate a Suffix eg. 123/03R. When citing the decision in a document, you must include the slash. When you are searching the "Decision No." field of the database, enter 123 03 R. See Searching by Decision No. for more details. However, when you search the “References” field use the actual number 123/03R. See Searching by References for more details.
WSIAT decisions are also available from:
- Lexis-Nexis Quicklaw (fee-based database)
- CanLII (2006) (free)
- Ontario Workplace Tribunal Library ($5 per decision)
