Public Accountability Documents

The Adjudicative Tribunals Accountability, Governance and Appointments Act, 2009 (ATAGAA) required that the Tribunal develop a series of Public Accountability Documents.

The Public Accountability Documents are: a mandate and mission statement, a consultation policy, a service standard policy that includes a process to respond to complaints, an ethics plan and a Member Accountability Framework.  The Member Accountability Framework includes a Code of Conduct for Tribunal members and position descriptions for the Chair, Vice-Chairs and Members.

The adoption of the WSIAT’s (then WCAT’s) Members’ Code of Professional and Ethical Responsibilities is noted in the Annual Report for 1992 and 1993.  The Code set out the standards of conduct governing the professional and ethical responsibilities of Members of the Tribunal.  In 2003, the Tribunal developed position descriptions for Vice-Chairs and Member Representatives for posting on the Tribunal’s website.   In 2011, the Code and position descriptions were updated as part of the review and development of documents required by ATAGAA.
