Decision 1857 21 I
2022-01-05
Z. Onen - S. Sahay - K. Hoskin
  • Adjournment (representative availability)

The employer was granted an adjournment of the teleconference hearing. The employer's representative learned a few days before the hearing that her child was a close contact of someone with COVID-19 and had to self-isolate. The representative was the only person who could care for the child and she could not find a replacement for the hearing. It was not reasonable to expect the representative to be able to properly focus on the proceedings while caring for a young child and she would not have been able to properly represent the employer.
